The objective of our Imagine Your Future-Think BMHS Hamburg initiative is to realize a fully funded international experience for a group of select BMHS students, with the goal of creating this opportunity for particular students identified as those that may be most unlikely or unexpected to travel overseas and gain such insight.
With the generous contributions of the Education Foundation and in cooperation with Berea City School District Superintendent Mike Sheppard and Mr. Jack Thomason, founder of The Berea Leadership Academy, we have reserved airline flights, meals, and accommodations for eight students and two chaperones. Coinciding with the BCSD spring break, this group departs from Cleveland on Monday, April 6, 2015 and returns on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Keep posted to this site for daily Hamburg updates from the students!

Our second day, Wednesday, April 8th included a boat tour of the harbor area and a walking discovery of the historic maritime warehouse district. As we explored the harbor area, a number of our students presented his/her selected and researched architectural design building/monument/site to the rest of the group. It was a true deep-learning experience to seek-out, find, and then describe the architectural examples that each had identified in preparation for our visit to Hamburg.

Imagine Your Future-Think Hamburg student testimonies:
On Sunday, April 12th, we embarked on a full-day excursion to the city of Berlin. Necessitating over two hours by train to arrive, it allowed us to experience the typically comfortable and convenient rail service regularly utilized by Europeans. The day included the full complement of historical monuments, authentic German foods, and popular sites, such as Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Wall, Reichstag Building, Checkpoint Charlie, Jewish Memorial Museum, Mercedes Benz showroom, Humboldt University, Alexander Platz Fernsehturm TV Tower, and Neue Wache Memorial to all Victims of Wars. It was truly an insightful day filled with history, emotion, awe, and excitement.
Our last day of this incredible journey and experience, Monday, April 13th, will include a visit to the Bergedorf Castle and a final opportunity for relaxed enjoyment of this wonderful city of Hamburg. It has truly been a most memorable and life changing opportunity for each of us.
