Original Painting by Charles (Chuck) Bontempo
*This painting was generously donated by Deanna Bontempo, wife of the late Charles Bontempo.
Charles Bontempo was an art teacher at Ford Intermediate
School and Midpark High School from 1964-1998 and Berea
resident. His father was a sign painter and spent many years
painting billboards. Chuck’s wife Deanna feels that her husband
followed in his father’s footsteps in taking up art. Chuck studied at
Kent State and finished at Ohio State with a Masters in Fine Arts.
Among Deanna’s fondest memories of Chuck’s art career,
she recalls going out to Idaho in the summers with their three
children so that Chuck could teach adult art classes. She described
him as a soft-spoken person and a perfectionist when it came to art.
Chuck always did a lot of artwork for the organizations
he belonged to including St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. It is
no surprise that Chuck’s generous nature is being carried on with
posthumous contribution to the Berea City School District.
