Auction raises funds for Education Foundation
A year’s worth of fresh flowers, Cleveland Indians tickets and a week on Cape Cod were just some of the tempting auction items up for bid at the 18th auction hosted by The Education Foundation of the Berea Schools.
The auction raised $48,000 to support Education Foundation programs. The Education Foundation uses the proceeds to provide grants to teachers and staff members who offer students enrichment programs. Such programs in the past have included reading projects for kindergartners, a program on bees, partnering special needs students with typical learners to build a radio-controlled airplane, using robots to teach programming skills to elementary school students, among other projects. The Foundation also manages over 30 scholarships, Payroll Deduction Grants supported by Berea School District employees and grants to new teachers.
“Our Auction Committee does their very best to put on a great event,” said Susan Hans, Auction Committee chair and chair of The Education Foundation Board.
More than 200 supporters attended the live and silent auction on March 8 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Middleburg Heights. They were treated to a buffet where hotel chefs created made-to-order pasta dishes. Volunteers staffed tables filled with nearly 90 auction items. Conducting the live auction was Bob Hale of Benefit Auction Services.

There also were wine and craft beer pulls, a ping-pong pick for gift cards, and a drawing for a $250 prize.
Thank you to the many patrons, sponsors, donors, volunteers and attendees who helped make this event fantastic!
