The Frederick C. Graff Art Scholarship
Background: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an award to a deserving student who has excelled in the area of the visual arts during his or her tenure at Berea-Midpark High School. This award is not specifically designed for art majors, but for any student who has had an active and fulfilling role in Berea-Midpark's art program.
Criteria: To qualify for this scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria:

- The candidate must be in attendance for the entire school year as a full-time senior class student at BMHS; candidates for early graduation will not be considered.
- The student must have earned two or more credits in the visual arts during his or her tenure at BMHS (grades 10-12), one of which was completed during their senior year.
- The student must have met all the necessary requirements for graduation and plan to pursue further education at an accredited, degree-granting college, university, or art school.
- The scholarship will be given for the candidate's freshman year, to be used for direct educational expenses.
- The criteria for selection will be based on the following:
- Demonstrated artistic ability and achievement (including portfolio presentation)
- Active participation within the art department, including volunteer work
- Academic achievement
- Character and leadership qualities demonstrated in art classes
- Extracurricular participation both in and outside the art department
- Two letters of recommendation (one from a BMHS art teacher and one from an individual outside the BMHS art department)
- A mission statement
