Jim Gorsline Scholar Athlete Award

This fund was established in memory of Jim Gorsline, Berea’s Head Basketball Coach for many years. Jim was MVP his senior year at John Marshall High School in 3 sports - football, basketball, and baseball. He was awarded an academic, as well as athletic, scholarship to Kent State University where he was eventually all MAC in basketball and baseball. Jim taught mathematics at Berea High School for 29 years and served as Mathematics Department Chairman during that time. He was also a coach throughout his career. Jim is in various sports Halls of Fame four times - 1 at John Marshall, 1 at KSU, and 2 at Berea. This scholarship was established in 2023 by Jim's family to honor his memory.
