Claudia M. Nosek Arts Scholarship
Reason established:
A 1965 graduate of BHS and a ’69 graduate of Indiana University (BA, Theatre), Claudia (Corky Wilchek) became a certified creative dramatics teacher in Winston-Salem, NC and then a Theatre Arts Specialist in Augusta, GA. She founded and directed the Augusta Player’s Academy of Children’s Theatre. Through the Arts Infusion Program sponsored by the Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, she taught dramatics (PK-5) and wrote, directed, and produced children’s plays. Upon returning to Cleveland, she served on the Community Board of KSU’s Porthouse Theatre. Claudia and her husband, Thomas, want to encourage graduates of Berea-Midpark HS, where she had her first theatrical experiences, to pursue a career in the performing arts.

- is planning to attend a 4-year accredited college or university to study the performing arts (theater, dance, or music)
- has completed the following essay: What life experiences have inspired you to make this career choice?
Secondary Criteria:
- is planning to attend a 4-year accredited college or university to study the visual arts
- demonstrates financial need
